* *EQUIPMENT OPERATOR * *JOB SUMMARY: * The Equipment Operator will work within the Uvalde Proving Grounds (UPG) Maintenance Department.
The UPG site is approximately 5,000-acres with 26 - Vehicle Test Tracks, with both paved and unpaved road surfaces.
The Maintenance Department is responsible for all maintenance required on the facility.
The primary duties of this position are flexibility and the ability to operate or be trained-on specific pieces of equipment with materials furnished by the Customer.
Responsible for completing al work in a Safe and Quality manner in accordance with, or exceeding Industry Standards.
*JOB DUTIES:* Completes assigned projects by applying the needed skills and utilizing available equipment to fit the scope of work required.
* Meets or exceeds goals by providing Safe & Quality construction work information regarding techniques and customer standards, resolving problems, and identifying improvements.
* Works to meeting construction budgets by identifying variances, taking corrective actions, and providing operating information to management and/or engineering.
* Conducts inspections of equipment operated daily to assure it is in a Safe and Operationally ready condition (Pre-Shift Inspections).
* Maintains strict compliance to technical specifications and code compliance as may be applicable.
* Maintains safe, secure, and a healthy work environment by following established standards and procedures while complying with regulations.
* Enhances the organization by accepting-accomplishing new and different assignments and exploring opportunities to add value to the organization and assigned jobs-projects.
* Maintains Equipment, Shops, Tools, etc.
in accordance with 5S general practices.
* Safely Operate and Maintain all Customer assigned equipment.
* Other duties as may be assigned to assist other departments or teams.
*JOB SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS: * Candidate must be Knowledgeable, Experienced, and Skilled in: * Customer Provided Equipment Operation of varying types and with the tools for those tasks as may be assigned.
Equipment includes, but is not limited to: o Front End Loaders o Back Hoes o Skid Steer o Farm Tractors o Mowers (tractor pulled, large, Box Mowers o Water Truck o Motor Grader (preferred, but not required) o Forklift (Off-Road) Excellent understanding of those areas of assignment (preferred, not required): Electrical, Plumbing, Roofing, Foundations, Highway/Street Construction, Carpentry and Masonry, Equipment Operation, etc.
Ability to Speak, Read, and Write in the English Language in order to work with applicable Job Work-Orders, blueprints, schematics, and construction documents as may be applicable.
* The ability to multi-task and to communicate with Customers and Team Members.
* The ability to FOLLOW DIRECTIONS and be an “Active Listener.
” * *MUST* be a *_TEAM PLAYER_.
* * *MUST *have a *_POSITIVE ATTITUDE.
_* * Valid Texas Drivers License with a clean driving record.
* Must be a minimum of 21-years of age or older due to insurance requirements.
* Pass a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screen.
* Must prove legal eligibility to work in the United States of America.
* Willingness to work nights, weekends, and after-hour Emergency Calls when required.
*EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: * * High School Diploma or equivalent.
* 2 to 5 years of experience MINIMUM of operating similar mobile equipment as described above (Job Skills and Requirements).
* The ability to Learn, Understand, and Demonstrate skills learned during training on a consistent basis.
* Must speak, read, write, and understand English.
* Will substitute equivalent combinations of training and experience in applicable construction trades.
* A VALID CDL is highly preferred, but not required.
*PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: * * The physical ability and strength to be able to LIFT heavy items up to 50 Lbs.
* Must have the ability to bend, squat, twist, kneel, and climb when required on a regular basis.
* Able to climb ladders on a regular basis.
* The ability to walk considerable distances in often rough terrain for conducting field evaluations-site selections and/or performing construction site inspections when required.
* Must be able to operate equipment for long periods of time on a regular basis.
* Willing and able to Transport Equipment, materials, supplies, etc.
to various locations both on and off the Customer Property.
