*FACILITIES MAINTENANCE CARPENTER HELPER*
*JOB DESCRIPTION*
At the Uvalde Proving Grounds, we “prove” tires for the tire manufacturer (our Customer) by testing their tires on test vehicles under various conditions both on-track at the Proving Grounds and on the highways around Uvalde, Texas.
The Carpenter Helper assists a Journeyman or Master carpenter with various tasks around the Uvalde Proving Grounds (UPG) facility.
Including, but not limited to tasks involving new construction, remodeling, or damage repair.
As a carpenter helper, you work both in department buildings and outside on construction sites, using many types of hand and power tools.
*DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*
The duties and responsibilities of the carpenter helper are many and varied.
Including, but not limited to:
· No two days are rarely alike.
Must be flexible
· Drywall Repairs
· Framing
· Painting
· Hanging Doors
· Tilework
· Measure, Layout, Hang and Finish Drywall
· Some plumbing
· Construction Site Clean-up
· ALL Tools provided.
· A willingness to learn from the more senior carpenters
*JOB REQUIREMENTS*
· The ability to follow directions
· Excellent communication skills and the ability to be an active listener.
· Have a basic understanding of framing, siding, and how to clean up fire or water damaged buildings.
· A POSITIVE attitude
· Valid Texas Driver’s license
· Have a clean driving record
· Must be a minimum of 21-years of age or older due to insurance requirements (driving company vehicles)
· Pass a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screen
· Must prove legal eligibility to work in the United States of America
· Willingness to work nights, on weekends, and after-hour emergency calls when required
*EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE*
· High School diploma or equivalent
· One to two years of construction and carpentry experience
· The ability to Learn, Understand, and Demonstrate skills learned during training on a consistent basis
· Must speak, read, and write English
*PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*
· Possess the physical strength to be able to LIFT Heavy Items up to 50 lbs.
· Must have the ability to bend, squat, twist, and kneel when required on a regular basis
· Must be able to lift, push, and pull as required
