JOB SUMMARY: Construction supervisors are responsible for the management and safety of construction projects.
Through planning, organizing, and controlling projects, they create an efficient and safe workplace, including materials and personnel.
The Supervisor ensures that projects stay within budget and that required materials and equipment are available.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Maintains project administration in a correct and timely manner.
Orders materials and equipment and takes care of the necessary permits.
Collaborate with engineers, architects etc.
to determine the specifications of the project.
Negotiate contracts with external vendors to reach profitable agreements.
Obtain permits and licenses from appropriate authorities.
Determine needed resources (manpower, equipment and materials) from start to finish with attention to budgetary limitations.
Plan all construction operations and schedule intermediate phases to ensure deadlines will be met.
Acquire equipment and material and monitor stocks to timely handle inadequacies.
Hire contractors and other staff and allocate responsibilities.
Supervise the work of laborers, mechanics etc.
and give them guidance when needed.
Evaluate progress and prepare detailed reports.
Accomplishes construction human resource objectives by selecting, orienting, and training employees.
Assesses safety and finance goals.
Manages sub-contractors by locating, evaluating, and selecting contractors.
Meets operational standards by contributing construction information to strategic plans and reviews.
Meets construction budget by monitoring project expenditures.
Accomplishes construction project results by defining project purpose and scope.
Approves construction projects by conducting inspections at critical phases.
Prevents fines and work interruptions by complying with, and enforcing, codes.
Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following guidelines, standards, and procedures.
Must perform other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED: Receives supervision from the Construction Superintendent.
Position has assigned supervisory responsibility or authority.
Must complete jobs without constant supervision.
WORKING CONDITIONS: The principal duties of this position are performed in an indoor and outdoor environment.
The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
Ability to twist, turn, bend, lift, kneel, climb and stand.
Ability to wear personal protective equipment such as hard hats, gloves, steel-toe boots at sites.
Occasional lifting up to 40 lbs may occur.
ALCOHOL AND DRUG TESTING POLICY: This position is subject to the DLP Services LLC, Drug Free Workplace Policy which includes: Post-Accident Testing, Random Testing, and/or Reasonable Suspicion Testing.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must be at least 18 years old.
Experience in the construction industry required.
High School diploma (or equivalent) is required, bachelor’s degree in construction, business, management, or engineering preferable.
Must be bilingual (English and Spanish).
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to read construction blueprints and store elevation drawings.
Experience in a leadership role recommended.
Proficiency in demonstrating proposals and projects.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple projects with urgent deadlines.
Great time management and problem-solving skills.
Other: Valid Drivers’ License Class C.
