Responsibilities:
POSITION SUMMARY: Watches the Intensive Care Unit and Telemetry monitors for dysrhythmias and informs charge nurse of abnormal readings.
Performs clerical duties as needed.
Examines heartbeat patterns on electrocardiograph monitors.
Makes note of irregular rhythms and monitors changes in heartbeat.
Ensures that monitors are functioning properly.
May require an associate's degree or its equivalent and 0-2 years of experience in the field.
Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.
Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
Performs a variety of tasks.
Works under general supervision.
A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required.

Qualifications:
Experience as nursing assistant and as unit clerk is preferred.
Licensure, Certification, Registration, etc.
: BLS required.
Special Skills, Knowledge: Current knowledge and skills appropriate to the age / type of patient population served.
Knows how to interpret EKG rhythm.
Demonstrates the skill in reading and transcribing doctor’s order.
Education:High school graduate or equivalent.
Basic unit course preferred.
Completion of a certified nursing assistant program is preferred.
One year experienced as a monitor technician is a plus.
